    Exceptional

I've been coming to this inn for 30 years. I like the bit of modernization that the new owners have done. Everything about the inn appeals to me. A priority is the peace and quiet and the green surroundings. Second is the character of the rooms. Third is the convenience to downtown. If you keep up the quality and the affordablilty, I will make the English Inn and Resort my usual place to stay when making trips to Victoria. Thank you. Had a delightful stay. Sandy McCartie

I like to say the location. Not far from Center of the city of Victoria, few minute away by car. you can enjoying quiet atmosphere- only birds singing awake you in the morning.

This old building have no sound proof.

We loved entering this castle like setting and being treated so royally from the moment we arrived. I had booked this on line weeks ago and then was concerned that I had picked the smallest room. On arriving we had already been given a free up grade which we loved. Being a person who is unable to eat any wheat products, I so enjoyed yogurt being included in breakfast. It was a quiet, peaceful and beautiful setting and would not hesitate to recommend it to people. It is far from the inner harbor but oh well you can't have everything. Overall - excellent experience.

    Fabulous

A family member had booked the Inn for a Christmas staff party and the Inn staff seemed to go out of theior way to create the ambiance which was desired. The fireplaces offered so much warmth and the entire decore was that of an old English setting which was very much appreciated by the entire group of party goers. As a mature couple it was good to be able to park near to the entrance and we appreciated the coffee in the lobby in the mornings.

    Good

Only 1 chair in room, noise from walking in room above, light from window between hallway and our room shines directly on your face while in bed!!

I have no idea that the location of English Inn takes 5 - 7 min. from downtown in Victoria by car, so I took a taxi. But Fleming beach where is down 2 blocks from B&B is awesome! You can see the great view in 10 min. walk. No restaurant and dining dining room in English Inn. so it is better to have dinner in downtown in Victoria. Although I know it is B&B, I totally have forgotten about it... Don't worry that there is a restaurant near the hotel.

    Very good

The decor was excellent, with a very old English feel but with a bit of bling. Room was large with some period furniture to add to the theme. Gardens were large and well maintained. It was a lovely quiet retreat.

The continental breakfeast was the smallest I have had. Yoghurt, tea, croissant and an apple. No butter or jams. No toast, No cereal. The room we had didn't have air conditioning so we had to leave the windows open which did not have screens. Fortunately there were no problems with insects at this time but it meant the curtains were also open and the sun came in early. We were on the third floor and the last stair case is very narrow and steep. Be prepared to either take a small bag of what you need or specify a lower floor room.

It has an old-world charme and a tranquille setting

    Not updated to modern conveniences

    Fabulous

We were delighted with the value of the accommodation we received by booking with Booked.net. Our room was large, quiet, and comfortable. The English Inn needs some TLC on its large grounds and gardens but provides a country feel in the city.

    It looks great.

No elevator, no hairdryer, problems w/ internet, poor room lighting, uncomfortable bed, uncomfortable seating in room, no heating or cooling control. No services between 10:00PM to 8:00AM.

    Exceptional

The Inn was charming and beautifully situated. The rooms were large clean and comfortable. It was in a quiet residential neighborhood but still very convenient to Victoria.

The only negative (very small) was that the only beverage readily available at breakfast was coffee. Tea was available, but one had to ask for hot water ... or cold water for that matter if one was not a coffee drinker.

I liked the comfortable beds, the clean rooms and the house with its gardens.

As stated when I was checking out, I found a significant discrepancy between what is being advertised in the photos and during the booking, and the reality. During the booking it was never said that the room is in the 3rd floor with no facilities for handicap people. The carpet on the stairs that take you to the 3rd floor need to be clean; it does not make a good impression to see a stained carpet. The breakfast, when you look at the pictures in the hotel's site, you get the impression it is a continental breakfast that suits the hotel, but the small table with paper cups and plastic cutlery makes you feel like in a chain hotel from the style of "Days Inn" or similar. Although this is advertised as a non smoking facility, the last night the people in the room below number 9, where we stayed, did not stop smoking in the small balcony (I think it is the room number 5), so we had to close the windows, so the air won't bring the smoke into our room. Another thing that you should pay attention to is that at this time of the year many of your guests are on holidays or a short break and maybe willing to sleep a little later than normal; it would be really considerate if the cleaning staff were instructed to keep their conversation to the right level.

    Good

It could be much more. The grounds were beautiful and deserve lots of praise. antique furnishings would be more appropriate in the DR and if it would serve food it would be much more inviting. Fireplace lit, classical music,, it could be better- like it use to be. I can see why people come to get married in the gardens. They are magnificant.

Price line had a better price , but I had already booked with you.

Location and the ambience, plus their reputation as a superior Inn Still has a family atmosphere

No early breakfast for early travellers, stairs required so difficult for those with mobility concerns.
